The story of Merlet begins in Limoges in 1974.
A cobbler from father to son, Roger James Merlet has always been surrounded by fine shoes and a deep respect for quality craftsmanship.

His decision to focus on making dance shoes was no coincidence but the result of a pivotal encounter with Robert Béchade.
This famous virtuoso violinist was married to a prima ballerina for whom he crafted pointe shoes.
It was from this exchange that Roger James Merlet’s passion for creating dance slippers was born.
